Welcome

We are set to build on June 2nd!

FANS’ latest project is to promote gardening as a hobby and a science learning opportunity.  Schools are joining together to help develop this joint community garden. It is hoped the planned Community Garden(s) will help promote healthy eating. Additionally, a portion of the produce will be given to local food pantries.

Members of the FANs of Ballston Spa organization, the Milton Grange, community participants (including volunteer landscape architects) and the Ballston Spa Middle/High Schools are joining together to develop this joint community garden.

This newest project offers a wonderful opportunity for residents of all ages to become involved in an activity with many benefits.

    PLAYGROUND

Kids' Creekside Village -- located in Kelley Park on Ralph Street -- is the first project FANS tackled as a newly formed organization. After several years of careful planning and fundraising, the new playground celebrated its Grand Opening in the spring of 2008. CLICK HERE.to learn more about this project.

    COMMUNITY GARDEN

Landscape architects Jesse and Mike Marquard have volunteered to design the community garden, which currently is envisioned as a network of raised beds.

The layout will include some type of borders or fencing to section it off from the campus’ lawn, a well or water source and a composting area.

Among those wielding trowels will be Ballston Spa high school and middle school students, members of the group Friends and Neighbors (FANs) of Ballston Spa, the Milton Grange, volunteer landscape architects and community participants.
